Youth Employability Through TVET
The Young Africa Works in Kenya – TVET Program set out to transform how young Kenyans, especially women, prepare for work by making Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) more inclusive, practical, and responsive to industry needs. Through a strong partnership between Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan), the Ministry of Education’s State Department for TVET, the private sector, and the Mastercard Foundation, the program strengthened the quality and relevance of TVET institutions across the country while expanding access to skills training.
Partnerships between Kenyan and Canadian institutions led to the establishment of TVET Centers of Excellence, where trainers were equipped with modern teaching methods, new industry-aligned curricula were introduced, and pathways were created to help learners transition from training into dignified and fulfilling work.
The Young Africa Works in Kenya – TVET Program has not only strengthened Kenya’s TVET ecosystem but also opened doors for thousands of young people to build meaningful careers and contribute to a more inclusive, skilled, and prosperous future.
